The Holy Community of Mount Athos issued on Tuesday an announcement on the war in Ukraine. The representatives of the monastic communities of the Holy Mount expressed compassion for the victims of the conflict unfolding in this country and transmitted that they ceaselessly pray for world peace.
The representatives of the Holy Mount expressed their “deep sadness for the loss of so many brothers of ours” and showed their compassion for the victims of the conflict “which has unfolded since 2014 between brothers who were united for centuries in the same faith and the same history in Christ”.
“The Holy Mount, a millennium-old monastic community which obeys the love and brotherhood commandments given by our Lord Jesus Christ through His Gospel and His Church, ceaselessly prays for world peace and especially for the zones which are confronted with war,” it is stated in the announcement.
The representatives of the Holy Mount Athos conclude by invoking the help of the Mother of God and of all the saints to intercede by the Resurrected Christ for the establishment of the long-awaited peace.
The Holy Community of Mount Athos is like a “parliament” of the Holy Mount, made of 20 representatives of the 20 monasteries in this monachal republic.
