In a message occasioned by Europe Day, Bishop Justin of Maramureş and Sătmar emphasized the contribution of God and Christianity to the smooth running of history.
“History is shaped in partnership with God. Europe, the nations of Europe, which today and tomorrow separate themselves from Christ, will have to give a difficult answer before God because their glory and fame are due to God and Christianity.”
“Europe’s prosperity, culture, civilization are Christian-inspired. All the universal masterpieces that we have exported all over the world, to all nations, were born in Christian Europe!” His Grace Bishop Justin noted.
Europe Day is one of the European symbols designed to promote unity among Europeans. Along with the flag, anthem, motto and single currency, it is part of the EU symbols.
Romania has been a member of the EU since 2007.
