Help for patients with cancer

The first Oncological Center in Romania which aims at helping patients with cancer is being built in the Bishopric of Caransebeş, near Nera Monastery within Sasca Montană town, by St. Irina Foundation from Bucharest, coordinated by prof. univ. dr. Pavel Chirilă, as Deacon Pavel Canea and Darius Herea inform.

The clinic is mostly financed with european funds and it will provide treatment and counselling for patients with cancer in initial phases: informing about the diseases, the onset and the early detection of the disease.

Taking into the account the fact that in order to successfully carry out the project, beside the EU funding there is a need of internal contributions on behalf of the local community, and that this clinic is being built next to an important monastery of the Eparchy of Caransebeş, in a depopulated area with many social problems in Caraş-Severin County, the faithful are called to also contribute to this project according to their financial possibilities. Besides these considerations also add the worrying statistics of the Department for Public Health in Caras-Severin county which shows that the county occupies top places regarding several types of cancer, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, only in recent months have been detected 915 cases of cancer, besides to 7.935 patients who have already been registered, 915 new cases of cancer have been detected only in recent months.

In all parishes and monasteries within the Bishopric of Caransebeş a fundraising will be organized from 21 to 30 November in order to complete the works at the first Oncological Recovery Center in Romania, because helping those in need is a fundamental requirement for the Church.

All those who want to contribute in this campaign organised by the Bishopric of Caransebeş in the near future can contact Mrs. Doinița Văran from the Eparchial Center at phone number +40745174884 or can use the IBAN of the “Ioan Popasu” Association, Transilvania Bank – Caransebeş, RO74BTRL01101205W39949XX, CIF 20215810.
