Hawaii’s Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon travels to Mono Monastery on July 22-23

The Hawaiian Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon will visit the Romanian Monastery in Mono, Ontario, Canada, for a two-day celebration in honour of the Mother of God.

The Romanian Monastery at Mono invites all Orthodox clergy and believers for a pilgrimage in honour of the Panagia Gerontissa that will include prayers, processions and spiritual lectures starting on July 22.

Special guests include His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, Fr. Dumitru Gavrila, a spiritual son of Elders Cleopas Ilie and Arsenie Papacioc, and Fr. Nectarios Yangson, the guardian of the Hawaiian Myrrh-streaming Icon.

The main patronal feast of the Monastery is the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (September 15). St. Ephrem the New (May 5) and the Gerontissa Icon of the Theotokos (December 2) are also considered additional patronages.
