Four months before its consecration, the works at the National Cathedral are being carried out at a fast pace.
The consecration of the cathedral is part of a national project dedicated to the Centennial of the 1918 Great Union and it will be officiated by His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, on Sunday, November 25, 2018.
Although the need to build a representative Orthodox Cathedral in Bucharest was stated right after the Independence War of 1877, the National Cathedral will be completed 120 years later. The efforts of the National Cathedral’s promoters – Eminescu, Slavici, Caragiale – will be fulfilled in 2018, the year marking the Centennial of the 1918 Great Union.
