Following Suqailbya terror attack, Patriarch Daniel expresses solidarity with Antioch Patriarch

Bucharest, 15 May 2019

His Beatitude John X,
Patriarch of Antioch and All the East

Your Beatitude,

Christ is Risen!

With profound sorrow, we found out about the terrorist attack on the Orthodox Christian village of Suqailbya, near the city of Hama, where four innocent children died, along with an adult, in the village church building of the village and who were buried on Sunday, 12 May 2019.

We note with great concern that more and more Christians, regardless of age, from different parts of the world, fall victims to extreme manifestations of violence and hatred, and unfortunately many times faith itself is misused in committing these abominable acts against the sacred gift of life that comes from God.

In these moments of suffering, we pray to the Merciful God to rest in His peace and love the souls of those who have been killed and to heal the wounded ones.

With brotherly love in Christ, the Risen Lord,

† Daniel

Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church
