Feast of the Holy Trinity at the Romanian Patriarchate

This year, on 24 June, the Orthodox Church celebrates the feast of the Holy Trinity. On this day, the Press Centre of the Romanian Patriarchate celebrates its dedication day. Today too, the Church celebrates the birth of Saint John the Baptist.

On this occasion, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Patriarchal Cathedral by His Grace Varlaam Ploiesteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, assisted by a group of priests and deacons. The group of celebrant priests was made up of: Rev. Nicolae Dascalu, coordinator of Basilica Press Centre and director of Lumina publications, Rev Ciprian Apetrei, Director of Basilica News Agency, Rev Nicolae Dima, Director of Trinitas Television and Rev Constantin Stoica from the Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate.

The employees of the Press Centre and many faithful were present at the holy service.

“On this day of royal feast, the next after the Descent of the Holy Spirit, our Church glorifies especially the Most Holy Trinity, God-the-Father, God-the-Son and God-the Holy Spirit. Because this year the feast of the Most Holy Trinity is on 24 June we also celebrate the Birth of Saint John the Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord. This day is a special day of joy for us as well, for those who serve at the Holy Cathedral, the servants of Basilica Press Centre, because all the branches of this agency go off their activity under the blessing, with the help, and for the glorification of the Most Holy Trinity, as well as because Trinitas Radio, Trinitas publishing house of the Patriarchate and especially Trinitas Television are dedicated to, protected, and blessed by the Most Holy Trinity”, His Grace said.

“We, the Christians, confess that the dogma or basic teaching of our faith is the teaching on the Holy Trinity, our strong faith in only one God according to essence, in three hypostases: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This faith is typical to Christianity which confesses the existence of a single God, of a single Being or Divine Nature which are held equally, undivided, and not mixed by the three Persons of the Most Holy Trinity, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is the mystery most difficult to understand by the human mind”, His Grace Varlaam explained in his sermon.

Basilica Press Centre of the Romanian Patriarchate celebrates its dedication day every year, on the feast of the Holy Trinity. Thus, the anniversary moment was marked at this great feast, in the Patriarchal Cathedral through a Te Deum service, in the presence of the employees of Basilica Press Centre. The religious service was celebrated by His Grace Varlaam Ploiesteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch assisted by a group of priests and deacons who coordinate or work in various branches of the Press Centre.

Basilica Press Centre was set up at the initiative and with the blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, on 27 October 2007. Basilica Press Centre of the Romanian Patriarchate is seated in Bucharest and made up of five branches: Trinitas Radio, Trinitas Television, Lumina daily newspaper, Sunday Lumina weekly, Vestitorul Ortodoxiei monthly magazine, Basilica News Agency and the Press Office.

The feast of the Holy Trinity is celebrated in the Orthodox Church on the Monday after the Descent of the Holy Spirit. In the 12th century this feast was not general in the West either, because it was settled for ever in the West only in 1334.
