Ecumenical Patriarchate establishes Synaxis of All Military Saints

During its working session on February 14, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate established a new feast dedicated to all the Orthodox Saints who were soldiers and who died as martyrs for Christ.

The Synaxis of All Military Saints will be celebrated every year on July 8 by the Church of Constantinople.

The proposal was made by Metropolitan Cyril of Rhodes, a press release issued by the Ecumenical Patriarchate reads.

Some of the most popular examples of Military Martyrs are St George the Trophy-bearer, St Demetrius the Myrrh-gusher, St Menas, St Theodore Stratilates, St Andrew Stratilates, St Eustace, St Artemius, St Mercurius etc.
