His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will visit South Korea at the beginning of December to attend the celebrations dedicated to the patronal feast of St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Seoul.

The Ecumenical Patriarch’s last visit to Korea was in February 2000, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Orthodox presence in this country.

The Orthodox Metropolis of Korea lies under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and is led by His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrose.

The Orthodox Metropolis of Korea includes nine parishes in South Korea, one parish in North Korea, two monasteries, and thirteen chapels.
