Cluj Metropolitan explains meaning of Christian hope at Int’l Bose Conference on Orthodox Spirituality

His Eminence Metropolitan Andrei of Cluj spoke at the International Ecumenical Conference on Orthodox Spirituality organized at the Monastery of Bose in Italy about the meaning of Christian hope.

He noted that Christian hope is a continuous, active manifestation of faith, which is the starting point of spiritual life.

“A faithful man, a spiritual man, a man of the Church can be no other than a confident person, in the sense that Christ is the One who protects and places him on a road so as to fulfil his calling,” the  Very Rev. Archimandrite Benedict Vesa, eparchial secretary of the Archdiocese of Cluj, told Radio Renasterea.

At the conference, the Metropolitan of Cluj read out the message of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel to the participants.

The 27th International Ecumenical Conference on Orthodox Spirituality, organized in collaboration with the Orthodox Churches, was held at the Monastery of Bose from Sept. 4 to Sept. 6, 2019 on the theme “Called to Life in Christ”.

The symposium, which was be attended by representatives of many different Churches and scholars from all over the world, aimed to explore the meaning of the human vocation and the Christian vocation in the church, in the world, in the present time.

The Conference papers, rethinking the rich and multiform tradition of the Christian East, offered an important opportunity for reflection on the fundamental choices of existence.
