Centenary of the restoration of the Russian Patriarchate | The delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church departs to Moscow

Saturday morning, the delegation of the Romanian Orthodox Church led by Patriarch Daniel departed to Russia. The Patriarch of Romania will attend the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Patriarchate in the Russian Orthodox Church, on 2-5 december 2017.

This is the second visit paid by His Beatitude Daniel in Russia since his enthronement as Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church. 9 years ago His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel attended the funerals of Patriarch Alexei II in 2008.

From the re-establishment of the Russian Patriarchate until today, six patriarchs have been: Tikhon († 1925), Sergius († 1944), Alexey I († 1970), Pimen († 1990), Alexey II (†2008) and His Beatitude Kiril (2009).
