Cardinal Leonardo Sandri on a visit to the Romanian Patriarchate

Today, 30 August 2014, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received the visit of Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches at Vatican. His Eminence was accompanied by His Eminence Ioan Robu, Roman Catholic Archbishop and Metropolitan of Bucharest, and by His Grace Mihai Fratila, Bishop of the new Greek-Catholic Eparchy of Bucharest.

To end with the meeting at the Patriarchal Residence, Cardinal Leonardo Sandri declared: “I came to Romania to be near the Greek Catholic Church these days at the installation of the new Bishop Mihai Fratila, Bishop of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Bucharest and I thought, in this context, I ought to pay a visit to His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and convey, at the same time, the salute of His Holiness Pope Francis I who is a great admirer both of the Romanian Orthodox Church and of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.

The visit of Cardinal Leonardo Sandri to Bucharest ends on 31 August 2014.
