“Brancovean Saints Martyrs” Order For Cinema Worker Nicolae Margineanu

Today, 14 November 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church offered the Order of the Brancovean Saints Martyrs, in the Romanian Saints room of the Patriarchal Residence, to cinema worker Nicolae Margineanu. The festive event took place in the presence of the Standing Meeting of the Church National Council.

The distinction was awarded as a result of his efforts made to shoot the “White Gate” documentary which presents the faith of those imprisoned for their religious convictions: “The White Gate” had perhaps the greatest impact for rendering the people sensitive and we think it is very instructive and missionary in fact, as it presents the faith working through sufferance. Faith working through love is that of good deeds, but faith working and strengthening through sufferance is the faith of the martyrs who suffered a lot. It is not by accident, but a significant coincidence that this film is promoted, appreciated and known during the commemorative year of the Brancovean Saints Martyrs who represent the measure of the Romanian dignity in time of trial”.

Cinema worker Nicolae Margineanu made many films and documentaries on the life during the communist period.
