Bp Timotei: Orthodox Youth Association members are Christ’s “mystical disciples” who are not ashamed to profess Him

“The mission of the Church at the Holy Altar is complemented by wonderful projects, deeds and ideas of young people who are mystical disciples of the Saviour, who are not ashamed to profess Him and inspire others of the same age,” Assistant Bishop Timotei of Prahova said referring to the activity of young people from the Romanian Orthodox Christian Students Association (ASCOR).

The message was delivered on Sunday after the Divine Liturgy celebrated at the Patriarchal Cathedral to mark the conclusion of the ASCOR national conference. The young people were accompanied by Fr. Nicusor Beldiman, Patriarchal Counselor at the Theological-Educational Sector of the Romanian Patriarchate.

The hierarch appreciated the activities of the young members of ASCOR and highlighted their love for their predecessors.

“In a beautiful gesture of gratitude, in addition to the meetings they attended, they remembered the ASCOR members who reposed in the Lord. It is a very precious thing to be thankful to those who lived before us, confessing that they will do this annually, commemorating those who stood out through zeal and holy mission.”

The assistant bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest thanked the young people, on behalf of Patriarch Daniel, for the dedication and love they pour into their multiple projects.

“We hope that this zeal will always increase, according to their faith and piety, but also according to the tradition and faith of the Romanian people,” bishop Timotei said Sept. 12.

Prayers were also offered for students beginning the new school year.
