ASCOR Iaşi inaugurated the third house it built for a large family

The third house built by The Romanian Orthodox Christian Students Association (ASCOR) of Iaşi for a large family was inaugurated on May 21, 2021, the feast of Holy Emperors Constantine and his mother Helen.

The house was built in the town of Vlădeni, Iași county and it was blessed by Bishop Macarie of Northern Europe. The hierarch thanked those who contributed and mentioned they shall be rewarded in heaven, not on earth.

The project was completed in eight months through the efforts of the ASCOR Iaşi volunteers and with the support of hundreds of donors willing to offer a roof to a widow with five children.

The program “Together We Build a House” was initiated by its former coordinator, Andrei Mocanu, who now serves as a deacon of the Church, and is now continued by Remus Fandarac, the current program coordinator.

A fourth house

ASCOR Iași is preparing for the inauguration of a fourth house, built for two girls raised by their grandmothers.

It was established on October 14, 1990, at the initiative of a group of students who benefited of the support and blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, at the time Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina.

The spiritual patrons of ASCOR Iași are Saint Calinic of Cernica and Venerable Paraskeva of Iași.
