Archbishop of Canterbury impressed by charitable work of Metropolis of Bessarabia

His Grace Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of the Anglican Communion, met with Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia in Chisinau last week.

The Metropolis’s official website reported that the discussions focused mainly on interfaith collaboration to support vulnerable people.

The Archbishop of Canterbury emphasised that he is highly impressed by the actions carried out by the Metropolis of Bessarabia in the social-philanthropic field.

Archbishop Justin Welby congratulated Metropolitan Petru for the solidarity and help offered by the Metropolis both during the pandemic and in the Ukrainian refugee crisis. This help echoed throughout the European community.

As a sign of appreciation, Archbishop Justin Welby presented the Romanian metropolitan with a special Canterbury Cross.

His Eminence Metropolitan Petru said he was honoured for such appreciation and high visits. He added that it is gratifying that the efforts of the Metropolis of Bessarabia are bearing fruit for the benefit of all people, especially those in need.

The meeting took place on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the headquarters of the Metropolis of Bessarabia in Chisinau.
