Arad monasteries installing solar panels on roofs to combat climate crisis

Hodoș-Bodrog and Gai Monasteries in the Archdiocese of Arad are fitting solar panels on their roofs to help tackle the climate crisis.

During the monastic synaxis last week, Archbishop Timotei offered his blessing for the two monasteries to instal the photovoltaic panels.

During the meeting, the superiors of the monasteries in the Arad Archdiocese reflected on the missionary dimensions of the monastic life and presented a report on the liturgical, administrative, social and cultural activities of the monasteries and hermitages.

The cultural dimension of the monastic synaxis was highlighted through thematic debates regarding the pastoral care of the elderly and the importance of hymnographers and church chanters in the Romanian Patriarchate.

Hodoș-Bodrog Monastery is one of the oldest monastic settlements in Romania, dating back to the 12th century.
