Abbot Ephraim of Vatopedi in good health following car accident

Archimandrite Ephraim, the abbot of the Athonite Vatopedi Monastery, was hospitalized after a car accident that occurred early in the afternoon yesterday outside the town of Grevena in Northern Greece.

Besides Abbot Ephraim, there were two other hieromonks in the car. The driver was a layman. Coming out of a tunnel, the car slipped on some ice and the driver lost control of the car and careened into the traffic barrier.

Though it was initially reported that Abbot Ephraim was injured, later information confirmed that he had sustained no injury, though doctors carried out some test for precautionary reasons. The driver and two other monks suffered minor injuries, reports Orthochristian.
