The inauguration of the Republic of Moldova’s new government signifies a new beginning that coincides, providentially, with a new phase in the life of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, following the election of its new Primate, as stated by Metropolitan Antonie of Bessarabia in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.
“We regard this convergence as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between our institutions, which serve the same society and share the same concern for people, for the education of the younger generation, for cultural and spiritual heritage, for the family, and for the development of local communities,” Metropolitan Antonie wrote.
The Metropolis of Bessarabia expresses its full willingness to contribute to this common effort, the Metropolitan continued.
Cooperation for the benefit of society
“Our clergy, monastic communities, educational institutions, social and charitable centres, and parish communities are present in people’s daily lives and wish to remain active partners of state institutions in all projects that strengthen social cohesion and contribute to the development of the Republic of Moldova,” Metropolitan Antonie emphasised.
“We are convinced that the conditions exist for meaningful cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Metropolis of Bessarabia, founded on mutual respect, professionalism and a sincere desire to serve the common good.”
The Metropolitan outlined the areas in which the Church is prepared to cooperate with public authorities, including the preservation of the country’s historical and spiritual heritage, education, culture, social assistance and support for the family.
The new Primate of the Metropolis of Bessarabia also expressed gratitude for Romania’s continued support for the Republic of Moldova and offered prayers that the work of the country’s new government would bear fruit for the benefit of the entire nation.
