Romanian Orthodox Archbishop backs Suceava robotics team ahead of U.S. competition

Archbishop Calinic of Suceava and Rădăuți blessed members of the “Royal Engineers” robotics team from the National College “Stephen the Great” in Suceava ahead of their departure for the Michiana Premier Event 2026 in the United States.

The meeting took place on Thursday, June 11, at the Archdiocesan Centre in Suceava, where Archbishop Calinic offered words of encouragement, praising the students’ dedication, perseverance and achievements in robotics, as well as their involvement in educational and community projects.

His Eminence also presented each team member with a prayer book.

The Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți has provided financial support to the “Royal Engineers” team, which has been participating in international robotics competitions since 2021.

The Michiana Premier Event 2026 is an elite international competition for high school students organised within the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) programme.

The event will take place at the Century Centre in South Bend, Indiana, from June 18 to 21 and will bring together 96 top robotics teams from around the world.
