Rev. Assoc. Prof. Dr Cosmin Daniel Pricop, Dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Patriarch Justinian” of the University of Bucharest, participated on 10–16 May 2026 in the 19th plenary session of the Joint International Commission for Orthodox-Lutheran Theological Dialogue.
Fr Cosmin Pricop, representative of the Romanian Patriarchate, delivered a paper entitled “The Relationship between Baptism and Primacy/Synodality from an Orthodox Perspective.”
The dialogue session, held in Sète, France, focused on the theme “Synodality and Primacy”. During the meeting, participants presented papers reflecting both Orthodox and Lutheran perspectives on the topic.
The two co-presidents of the Commission were Metropolitan Kyrillos Katerelos of Krini (Ecumenical Patriarchate) for the Orthodox delegation, and Bishop Dr Johann Schneider for the Lutheran delegation.
The Joint International Commission for Orthodox-Lutheran Theological Dialogue is also known as the Joint Commission for Dialogue between the Orthodox Churches and the Lutheran World Federation.
The international Orthodox-Lutheran theological dialogue, also referred to as the Dialogue between the Orthodox Churches and the Lutheran World Federation, has continued uninterrupted since 1981.
