Bishop Nectarie named best goalkeeper at church minifootball tournament in Ireland

His Grace Bishop Nectarie received the special award for “Best Goalkeeper” at the end of the first edition of the minifootball tournament organised by the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Ireland and Iceland.

His Grace received the special distinction for “Goalkeeper of the Tournament”.

The competition, held on May 2 in Dublin, brought together 12 teams representing parishes from the Diocese of Ireland and Iceland, including one composed exclusively of English-speaking players.

In the final standings, first place went to “St. Evin – Monasterevin Parish”, followed by “FC Codlea – Annunciation Parish Dublin” and “Old Boys LMR – Dublin Diocesan Centre”.

Faith and fair play

Other individual awards were also presented: Denis Ciarnau was named player of the tournament, while Vasile Berdilă received the “Senior Veteran” distinction.

The Galway Hooks team received the Fair Play award.

The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony and a fraternal agape meal organised at the Diocesan Centre.

The organisation of the second edition will be entrusted to the winning team.
