Basarabia Metropolitan congratulates Republic of Moldova’s new Government after swearing-in

Metropolitan Petru of Basarabia sent a message of congratulations to the new government of the Republic of Moldova upon its inauguration.

Following recent parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, a new government led by Alexandru Munteanu was formed and took the oath of office on Saturday before the country’s president, Maia Sandu.

Metropolitan Petru highlighted the evangelical principles that guide a nation — self-sacrifice and altruistic service.

“We wish that the new mandate of the Government led by Your Excellency will be a time of cooperation, involvement and solidarity, in which every decision springs from love for people and from the desire to bring justice, dignity and prosperity to the people of this country,” he said.

A loyal partner of the state

The Metropolitan expressed his openness and readiness to cooperate with the new executive in Chișinău.

“Over time, we have been and will remain a loyal partner of the state, a constant promoter of the values of democracy, of freedom, of Romanian identity and of our country’s European path.”

“We have received with joy and confidence the governing plan of the Cabinet led by Your Excellency, founded on noble principles of the common good, care for every citizen, safe communities, fair justice, culture that unites, cohesion between the banks of the Prut and diplomacy for peace,” the Metropolitan of Basarabia noted.

In the final part of his message, Metropolitan Petru called for a fair resolution of several issues facing the Metropolis of Basarabia.

“We pray that the Good Lord, Who ordains times and nations, may grant you health, strength and grace, so that you may fulfil with faith and dignity the mission entrusted to you,” Metropolitan Petru concluded.
