30th anniversary of Germany’s Romanian Orthodox Metropolis to be marked with special events in Munich

Two festive events will be organized in Munich next week to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of Germany, Central and Northern Europe.

On Thursday evening, May 30, Munich’s St. John the Baptist Church will be filled with the harmonious melodies of the National Opera’s Symphony Orchestra and the “Tronos” Byzantine Choir of the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest. This anniversary concert will commence at 6:00 PM local time.

Additionally, on Saturday, June 1, at 9:00 AM, the hierarchs of the Metropolis will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at St. Sylvester Church in Munich.

The events are supported financially by the Department for Romanians Abroad and the State Secretariat for Religious Affairs, the Munich Church Centre announced.

The Romanian Orthodox Metropolis of Germany, Central, and Northern Europe was founded thirty years ago and has operated since June 5, 1994, the date of Metropolitan Serafim Joantă’s enthronement.
