26 February 1890 – Priest, historian and folklorist Dumitru Furtuna was
born in Tocileni, county of Brașov. Studies at “Veniamin” Seminary in
Iași (1902 – 1910) and at the Faculty of Theology of Bucharest (1910 –
1914), where he got the doctor’s degree (1927). Priest at the church
“Vârcolici Falling Asleep” in Dorohoi (1915 – 1940), Religion professor
at the Secondary School of Dorohoi (1915 – 1948), for a while director,
professor and director of the Seminary of Dorohoi (1923 – 1933) set up
as a result of his interventions. He published precious works. He died
on 15 January 1965, in Dorohoi.
