“It is a bit too much for me,” Fr. Constantin Necula said with modesty after receiving the diploma and trophy, designating him Romania’s Media Person of the Year during the Radar de Media Gala held Tuesday evening in Bucharest.
The priest expressed his gratitude to the Metropolitan of Transylvania, who did not refuse him any of the media missions.
“I feel like a dwarf in the mill of the Holy Spirit seeing how many high-quality people are here. (…) I hope with all my heart that you feel that the Church is with you and that through my voice, we try to say day by day that there is dignity, verticality, and chance.”
The priest then considered those who helped him in various ways, declaring himself still a “learner” in television: “I thank Andrei Victor Dochia enormously, the one who invested enormously in me as a producer. I thank Andrei Măgălie, who retired and is the director who taught me to look beyond the images. I thank my colleagues from the operative team of TVR.”
Father Constantin Necula urged everyone to love their country and to have courage in Christ.
“You know I’m here because I love my country. I don’t necessarily love television and not all television networks, I admit, but I really love this country we’re all a part of.”
“I feel honoured to be the priest of my Romanian nation, Orthodox and not only. I hope with all my heart that you feel that when we speak Romanian, God smiles on us with joy.”
“I dare to urge you to take courage! In a world that is falling apart and killing itself, staying on the side of Christ and your nation means dignity, patriotism and professionalism,” the cleric noted.
At the 2023 Radar de Media Gala, Priest Vasile Ioana, the Basilica News Agency, as well as two producers of Trinitas TV were also awarded.
