Patriarch Daniel welcomes new Mexican Ambassador in Bucharest

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church welcomed Thursday, 10 May 2018, at his patriarchal residence His Excellency the new Ambassador of Mexico to Romania, Gulliermo Ordoria.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Carlos García Delgado, the head of the Mexican Embassy’s Chancery, and secretary Martín Borrego Llorente.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel thanked the Ambassador for his presentation visit and appreciated his rich diplomatic and academic activity.

His Excellency thanked for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings to the Romanian Patriarch on behalf of the Mexican President and Foreign Minister.

Ambassador Ordoria went on to present several initiatives made by the state of Mexico to the United Nations on the phenomenon of migration and the migrants’ rights. He also pointed to a document regarding individual duties and obligations.

In his speech the Mexican Ambassador referred to the electoral procedures in Mexico as an international model of good practice.

The themes discussed included the relations between the two states and religious denominations, stressing the mutual importance of partnership in a strengthened democracy.

At the end of the meeting, the Patriarch expressed his desire to organize joint Romanian-Mexican cultural events given the common Latin heritage of the two peoples.
