Blessed Shrines at the Historical Chapel of the Patriarchal Residence

Today, 20 May 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania blessed the shrines of the relics of several saints: Saint Martyr Constantine Brancoveanu, Saint Catherine, Saint Paisie and Saint John Iacob from Neamt. The religious service was held in the historical chapel of the Patriarchal Residence dedicated to Saint Great Martyr George.

To end with, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel spoke about the honour of the saints: “These beautiful shrines are a sign of the appreciation that the Church shows to the saints of God. At the same time they are a call to strengthen the devotion, follow the example of the saints’ lives, strengthen the spiritual life, and to increase prayer and good deeds. The saints are God’s friends who suffered in the world in many ways, some of them paying their faith with their life, and now pray for us in heaven having been not only teachers or models, but also intercessors.”

The shrines have been made at the Workshops of the Romanian Patriarchate with great artistic craftsmanship: “We blessed four shrines of some saints. They are new and have been made at the Workshops of the Romanian Patriarchate which are more and more specialised. Here is the shrine of the Martyr Prince Constantine Brancoveanu, the most recent of them and made with much skill by the nuns of the Workshop of the Romanian Patriarchate of Pasarea Monastery”, His Beatitude said.
