Sunday, 9 March 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania visited the church of the Romanian Orthodox parish of Saint Paraschevi of Istanbul. On this occasion, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church congratulated the Romanian faithful who keep alive the Romanian faith and traditions.<\/p>\n
The “Saint Paraschevi\u201d church of Istanbul was founded by Saint Constantine Brancoveanu.<\/p>\n
“This year is the year of the Brancovean Saints in the Romanian Patriarchate and this is why we offered His Holiness Bartholomew, Ecumenical Patriarch, an icon of the Brancovean Saints as thanksgiving for having given us the opportunity to have a place of liturgical service here for the Romanian Orthodox community.<\/p>\n
His Holiness Bartholomew is very generous and understood the importance of the pastoral service of the Orthodox Christians, and of other ethnic groups too, in Istanbul city\u201d, His Beatitude said, according to Trinitas Radio station.<\/p>\n
His Beatitude has also spoken about the synaxis of the Primates of the Orthodox Church which came to a close yesterday, at the Ecumenical Patriarchate: “We are glad because we could meet these days the Primates of the sister Orthodox Churches and succeeded together in drafting the programme of the future Pan-Orthodox Synod that will take place in 2016, around the Pentecost feast. We have the great joy to have established the data, themes and way of working\u201d.<\/p>\n
Patronised by “Saint Great Martyr Parascheva\u201d, this beautiful and old church is situated on the old Eastern bank of the “Golden Horn\u201d gulf in Haskoy district, close to Rahmi Koc museum and to the old metal bridge, closed today. The entrance on the Eastern side of the church of Saint Martyr Parascheva-Prikidon has a text above it mentioning the restoration of the church from the foundation made with the help of the donation of the saint ruling Martyr Prince Constantine Brancoveanu in 1692.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
