The restored crosses of the Romanian Church of St Anthony in Vienna were returned to its bell towers on Monday, following a restoration that returned them to their original 1904 appearance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to an announcement on the parish\u2019s official Facebook page<\/a>, the crosses were installed at a height of 32 metres atop the church\u2019s two towers. A new commemorative document dedicated to this year\u2019s restoration work was also placed inside the orb at the base of one cross.<\/p>\n

The document was placed alongside a commemorative charter dating from 1904, discovered this spring during restoration work on the church.<\/p>\n

The community also thanked the specialists involved in the restoration and installation: \u201cWe thank Mr Sukup and Mr Steiner, from the two companies Sukup Spenglerei and Steiner Schmiedetechnik, who, together with their colleagues, successfully completed this project of great symbolic significance.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Church of St Anthony in Vienna was built between 1887 and 1893, alongside an institution intended to support women and children in difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n

Since 2014, the Romanian Orthodox Parish of St Anthony the Great in Vienna has owned the church, which is part of the Archdiocese of Germany, Austria and Luxembourg. Father Ioan Moga has served the parish since its founding.<\/p>\n
