{"id":585489,"date":"2026-08-22T14:01:51","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T11:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=585489"},"modified":"2026-08-22T14:01:51","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T11:01:51","slug":"bishop-ieronim-metropolitan-lukijan-transfiguration-szentendre-hungary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/bishop-ieronim-metropolitan-lukijan-transfiguration-szentendre-hungary\/","title":{"rendered":"Bishop Ieronim joins Serbian Metropolitan Lukijan for Transfiguration feast in Szentendre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>His Grace Bishop Ieronim of Dacia Felix <a href=\"https:\/\/episcopiadaciafelix.ro\/preasfintitul-parinte-ieronim-alaturi-de-mitropolitul-lukijan-la-hramul-catedralei-din-szentendre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concelebrated<\/a> on Wednesday with Serbian Metropolitan Lukijan of Buda and Administrator of Timi\u0219oara at the patronal feast of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Szentendre, Hungary.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the occasion of the feast observed by the Serbian Orthodox Church according to the unrevised Julian calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Metropolitan Lukijan presented the Transfiguration as a revelation of the divinity of our Saviour Jesus Christ and, at the same time, as a call addressed to every Christian to renew their own life through communion with God.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the traditional rite of cutting the slava bread was performed.<\/p>\n<p>Metropolitan Lukijan thanked Bishop Ieronim for concelebrating and highlighted the pastoral work of the Diocese of Dacia Felix among Romanian Orthodox communities in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the cooperation between the two neighbouring dioceses.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Ieronim highlighted Metropolitan Lukijan\u2019s pastoral ministry, recalling his care for the clergy and faithful, as well as his concern for developing Church life and preserving the diocese\u2019s spiritual and material heritage.<\/p>\n<p>The Bishop of Dacia Felix also emphasised the fraternal relations between the two dioceses, founded on their common Orthodox faith and strengthened through cooperation among the hierarchs, clergy, and communities under their pastoral care.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semu.hu\/en\/churches-and-monasteries\/cathedral-szentendre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Szentendre<\/a> was built between 1741 and 1746, with Serbs who had arrived from Bosnia among those who contributed to its construction.<\/p>\n<p>Its iconostasis, completed in 1746, is the first Serbian Baroque iconostasis to reach as high as the nave ceiling.<\/p>\n<p>Photo: Diocese of Dacia Felix<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>His Grace Bishop Ieronim of Dacia Felix concelebrated on Wednesday with Serbian Metropolitan Lukijan of Buda and Administrator of Timi\u0219oara at the patronal feast of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Szentendre, Hungary.
