The visual identity of the 2026 International Orthodox Youth Meeting (ITO) has been unveiled, featuring a logo inspired by the mosaics of Romania’s National Cathedral<\/a> and Constantin Br\u00e2ncu\u0219i’s iconic Infinite Column.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the organisers, the central element of the monogram is “a minimalist representation of the silhouettes of young people joyfully participating in the International Orthodox Youth Meeting. At the same time, each silhouette symbolises a member of the family, whether the immediate or the extended family.”<\/p>\n

The stylised heads of the figures take the shape of a rhombus, a symbol with multiple meanings in Orthodox visual tradition, expressing light and radiance while evoking “the bright future of Orthodox youth in the Romanian Orthodox Church.”<\/p>\n

The designers explain that each element can also be viewed as a mosaic tile inspired by the artwork of the National Cathedral, as well as a repeating motif reminiscent of Constantin Br\u00e2ncu\u0219i’s Infinite Column, a symbol of eternal life.<\/p>\n

The Meaning of the Number Eight<\/h2>\n

The monogram is composed of eight symbols arranged in a circle, expressing the unity of the young people gathered at ITO, the unity of the family as “the living cell of the Body of Christ,” and the communion of the entire Romanian Orthodox Church.<\/p>\n

The number eight carries a threefold meaning. First, it marks ITO 2026 as the event’s eighth edition. Second, it recalls the family of St. Basil the Great<\/a>. Third, it symbolises eternal life and infinity in Orthodox spirituality.<\/p>\n

“The essence and centre of the monogram is the Patriarchal Cross\u2014the Cross of Christ the Saviour\u2014understood as God’s infinite love for the world, from which life, love, and human joy flow and in which they are united. The Cross is the symbol of love that conquers death,” the organisers emphasised.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

ITO 2026<\/h2>\n

The eighth edition of the International Orthodox Youth Meeting (ITO) will take place in Bucharest from August 31 to September 3, 2026. Approximately 2,400 young people from Romania and abroad are expected to participate.<\/p>\n

This year’s theme is “Youth, Family and the Meaning of Life in Christ,” in the context of the Romanian Orthodox Church’s Solemn Year of the Pastoral Care of the Christian Family and the Commemorative Year of the Holy Women in the Calendar.<\/p>\n
