The local proclamation of the canonisation of St Philothea of Pas\u0103rea and St Elizabeth of Pas\u0103rea will take place on 5 June 2026. To mark the occasion, an extensive liturgical programme will be held at Pas\u0103rea Monastery on 4\u20135 June 2026, as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thursday, 4 June 2026<\/h2>\n

5:00 p.m. \u2013 8:30 p.m. \u2013 Vigil service in honour of Sts Philothea and Elizabeth of Pas\u0103rea (Great Vespers with Artoklasia and Matins).<\/p>\n

Friday, 5 June 2026<\/h2>\n

9:00 a.m. \u2013 12:00 p.m. \u2013 Divine Liturgy celebrated by an assembly of bishops, priests and deacons.<\/p>\n

12:00 p.m. \u2013 Solemn ceremony of the proclamation of the canonisation, including the reading of the Synodal Tomos of Canonisation and the presentation of the saints\u2019 icons.<\/p>\n

St Philothea of Pas\u0103rea<\/h2>\n

St Philothea of Pas\u0103rea, the mother of St Callinicus of Cernica<\/a> and three other sons, was born Floarea Antonescu. After being widowed, she entered monastic life at Pas\u0103rea Monastery and later received the Great Schema.<\/p>\n

She lived a life adorned with the virtues of humility, obedience, prayer, and love for God and neighbour, and reposed in the Lord on 8 November 1833.<\/p>\n

St Elizabeth of Pas\u0103rea<\/h2>\n

St Elizabeth of Pas\u0103rea<\/a> (1970\u20132014) lived a life of strict asceticism, joining the community of Pas\u0103rea Monastery at a young age.<\/p>\n

Beginning in 2003, she lived as a hermit on Mount Giumal\u0103u in Suceava County. She received the Great Schema at Pas\u0103rea Monastery on 19 April 2006 and spent her life in prayer, stillness and humility. She reposed in the Lord on 5 June 2014.<\/p>\n
