The Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) in Beijing is hosting the exhibition \u201cResurrection \u2013 Creation and Restoration\u201d, featuring 44 works by artist Elena Murariu, including 24 icons created using graphic and watercolour techniques.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alongside the iconographer\u2019s works, the exhibition also includes documentary images depicting the stages of restoration projects at national heritage conservation sites in Romania.<\/p>\n

The opening event on 8 May concluded with the screening of the film Constantin Br\u00e2ncoveanu \u2013 The Power of Vision, directed by Marilena Rotaru.<\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cResurrection \u2013 Creation and Restoration\u201d was also featured in the prestigious Chinese publication\u00a0China Daily<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

On 9 May, the day after the opening, Elena Murariu \u2014 who is also a restoration painter \u2014 presented<\/a> four examples of mural painting restoration: the infirmary chapel of Bistri\u021ba Monastery (V\u00e2lcea County), Gura Motrului Monastery (Mehedin\u021bi County), Viore\u0219ti-Sl\u0103tioara Church (V\u00e2lcea County), and Fundenii Doamnei Church in Bucharest.<\/p>\n

The lecture formed part of a series of events dedicated to presenting Romania\u2019s national heritage conservation work.<\/p>\n

Another guest in the series was Associate Professor Dr Florian Petrescu, architect, who delivered the lecture \u201cDialogues on Restoration: Sharing Experiences and Innovative Methods in National Heritage Conservation\u201d on 13 May<\/a> at the headquarters of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in Beijing.<\/p>\n

The series of events was organised in the context of the 70th anniversary of Romania\u2019s accession to UNESCO.<\/p>\n

The exhibition remains open until 11 June at ICR Beijing, Galaxy Soho, A, 1 F, 10125.<\/p>\n
