Romania\u2019s Consul General in Barcelona, Sandra G\u0103tejeanu Gheorghe, attended on Sunday the 25th anniversary celebration of the \u201cSaints Constantine and Helen\u201d parish in Figueres, Spain.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a message published on social media<\/a>, the Romanian diplomat highlighted the importance of the Romanian community and parish life within the diaspora.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe event highlighted the important role that the parish and the Romanian community play in preserving Romanian spiritual, cultural and linguistic identity in the Kingdom of Spain, as well as their contribution to strengthening solidarity and community cohesion,\u201d Sandra G\u0103tejeanu Gheorghe said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI congratulate Fr Laurentiu Rezeanu, the Parish Council and all the faithful who, throughout these years, have contributed to the development and continuity of this community,\u201d the diplomat added.<\/p>\n

Light of the world<\/h2>\n

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace Bishop Timotei of Spain and Portugal at the parish in Figueres, which marked its patronal feast in advance.<\/p>\n

The hierarch reflected<\/a> on the Gospel reading of the Sunday of the Healing of the Man Born Blind and spoke about Christ\u2019s healing work.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this miracle, Christ shows us that He came to heal not only the body, but above all the human soul. Sin brings darkness and estrangement from God, while Christ is the Light of the world.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s Gospel teaches us that humility and faith draw a person closer to God. If we seek Christ with a sincere heart, He will bring light and healing to our souls,\u201d Bishop Timotei emphasised.<\/p>\n

During the event, parish priest Fr Laurentiu Rezeanu received the Cross of \u201cApostle James\u201d, while his wife, C\u0103t\u0103lina Rezeanu, was awarded the Diploma of \u201cApostle James\u201d in recognition of their work within the Romanian community in the region.<\/p>\n

The Parish of \u201cSaints Constantine and Helen\u201d in Figueres is located in north-eastern Spain, near the French border. The parish conducts its liturgical activity at Carrer de Molins, 34, Pont de Mol\u00edns, Spain.<\/p>\n
