{"id":569951,"date":"2026-05-05T11:00:35","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T08:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=569951"},"modified":"2026-05-05T11:00:35","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T08:00:35","slug":"romanian-women-in-history-academician-turned-nun-benedicta-zoe-dumitrescu-busulenga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/romanian-women-in-history-academician-turned-nun-benedicta-zoe-dumitrescu-busulenga\/","title":{"rendered":"Romanian women in history: 20 years since the repose of Mother Benedicta, scholar who embraced monastic life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tuesday marks 20 years since the repose of Mother Benedicta \u2014 academician Zoe Dumitrescu-Bu\u0219ulenga \u2014 who, during the communist period, urged her students to read the Bible and, after its fall, rose to become Vice-President of the Romanian Academy before choosing the path of monastic life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She was born on 20 August 1920 in Bucharest to Nicolae Dumitrescu and Maria Apostol.
