A new social day centre for elderly and vulnerable persons will be built<\/a> in C\u00e2mpulung Moldovenesc, Suceava County, Romania, under the patronage of Saint Elizabeth of Pas\u0103rea<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The works were blessed on 22 April by the Archdiocese’s Assistant Bishop Damaschin of Dorna, through the blessing of the site and foundation for the project entitled \u201cDay Centre for Assistance and Rehabilitation, Enclosure and Utilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

His Grace highlighted the importance of cooperation between Church and community:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe solemn moment in which we take part is a sign of good work accomplished together. In the foundation charter, only a few of the persons \u2014 laity and clergy \u2014 were mentioned, who conceived, laboured, hoped and brought us to this stage.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cTheir co-operation must be made concrete, energised and replicated. This is our deep conviction: the joining together of spirit and hands, from both the Church and the authorities, abundantly draws down the blessing of God,\u201d the assistant bishop said.<\/p>\n

Support for More Than 3,000 Beneficiaries<\/h2>\n

The investment is financed through European funds under the Inclusion and Social Dignity Programme 2021\u20132027<\/a>, with support from the local deanery, while the land for the centre has been provided by the Parish of the Nativity of the Mother of God in the municipality.<\/p>\n

The centre in C\u00e2mpulung Moldovenesc forms part of a wider network of five similar facilities developed across the diocese, alongside those in Suceava, F\u0103lticeni, Gura Humorului and Marginea.<\/p>\n

The total investment exceeds \u20ac7.8 million in non-reimbursable funding secured through the Ministry of Investments and European Projects.<\/p>\n

These centres will provide comprehensive socio-medical services, including basic healthcare, rehabilitation therapies, psychosocial counselling and support for beneficiaries\u2019 families, helping more than 3,000 vulnerable elderly persons remain within their communities.<\/p>\n
