The Diocesan Chapel, \u201cResurrection of the Lord,\u201d in Cahul celebrated its patronal feast on Monday, the second day of Holy Pascha.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Bishop Veniamin of Southern Bessarabia.<\/p>\n

Referring to the Gospel according to Saint John, in which Christ grants the apostles the power to forgive sins, the bishop explained the importance of the gift of the Holy Spirit, which prepares people for their encounter with God.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Saviour Christ told the apostles to remain in Jerusalem until they would be clothed with power from on high. After the descent of the Holy Spirit, the apostles began to baptise,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Witnessing to Christ<\/h2>\n

The bishop underlined the call to live a life of witnessing to the faith.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like us, as Christians of this world, having received purification through the Holy Spirit and fire, to become witnesses of Christ to the ends of the earth,\u201d he urged.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He also emphasised Christ\u2019s constant presence in the lives of believers.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us be aware that Christ is with us, just as He was with the apostles: \u2018Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.\u2019 He is with us, sometimes in a visible way, at other times invisibly.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The event coincided with the feast of the Holy Martyr Benjamin the Deacon, the spiritual patron of the bishop, according to the unrevised calendar.<\/p>\n
