{"id":564866,"date":"2026-04-01T16:44:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T13:44:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=564866"},"modified":"2026-04-01T16:44:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T13:44:57","slug":"bucharest-palm-sunday-procession-national-cathedral-first-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/bucharest-palm-sunday-procession-national-cathedral-first-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Bucharest Palm Sunday procession to start from National Cathedral for first time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>On Saturday, 4 April 2026, on the eve of the great feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), the Romanian Patriarchate and the Archdiocese of Bucharest will organise the Palm Sunday Procession in Bucharest, with the participation of hierarchs, priests, monastics and lay faithful from Romania&#8217;s capital and Ilfov County.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This religious and missionary event is organised with the support of the Basilica Media Centre of the Romanian Patriarchate.<\/p>\n<p>The pilgrimage will begin at the National Cathedral and will follow this route: Izvor Street, the Chapel of the National Cathedral (first stop), 13 September Ave, Libert\u0103\u021bii Boulevard, Constitution Square, Unirii Boulevard, Unirii Square (western side), the Br\u00e2ncoveanu Cross (second stop), Patriarchal Hill, and the Patriarchal Cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>The procession will conclude at the Patriarchal Cathedral, where the pilgrims will be received by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church.<\/p>\n<h2>Main Moments of the Procession<\/h2>\n<p>15:00 \u2013 Vespers service at the National Cathedral;<br \/>\n16:00 \u2013 Blessing of willow branches at the National Cathedral, which will then be distributed to the faithful;<br \/>\n16:15 \u2013 Departure in procession from the National Cathedral to the Patriarchal Cathedral;<br \/>\n16:30 \u2013 Stop at the Chapel of the National Cathedral (first stop);<br \/>\n17:30 \u2013 Arrival at the Br\u00e2ncoveanu Cross at the base of Patriarchal Hill (second stop);<br \/>\n17:35 \u2013 Departure towards the Patriarchal Cathedral;<br \/>\n17:45 \u2013 Arrival at the Patriarchal Cathedral, where His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will bless the icon of the Feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, offer a prayer of blessing for the pilgrims and deliver an address.<\/p>\n<p><em>Press Office of the Bucharest Archdiocese<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Photo: Basilica.ro \/ Raluca Ene<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, 4 April 2026, on the eve of the great feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), the Romanian Patriarchate and the Archdiocese of Bucharest will organise the Palm Sunday Procession in Bucharest, with the participation of hierarchs, priests, monastics and lay faithful from Romania&#8217;s capital and Ilfov County.
