{"id":564205,"date":"2026-03-27T15:47:35","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T13:47:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=564205"},"modified":"2026-03-27T15:47:35","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T13:47:35","slug":"ilie-bolojan-bessarabia-union-1918-cernica-monastery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/ilie-bolojan-bessarabia-union-1918-cernica-monastery\/","title":{"rendered":"Romanian PM Ilie Bolojan honours Bessarabia Union leaders at Cernica Monastery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on Thursday attended a commemorative event at Cernica Monastery marking 108 years since the Union of Bessarabia with Romania.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a post on his official Facebook page, the head of government highlighted the significance of the 1918 event: \u201cThe Act of Union, adopted in Chi\u0219in\u0103u, was the first cornerstone laid in the foundation of national reunification.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion, the Prime Minister laid wreaths at the graves of prominent members of Sfatul \u021a\u0103rii buried at Cernica Monastery, including Metropolitan Gurie Grosu, Pantelimon Halippa, Daniel Ciugureanu and Ioan Pelivan.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI thank Archimandrite Vasile P\u00e2rjol, Abbot of Cernica Monastery, and Mr Mihai M\u00ee\u021bu, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania, for their dedication in honouring the memory of these forebears,\u201d Bolojan said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>March 27 marks 108 years since the Union of Bessarabia with Romania.
