Kim Hyeonwoo, a 25-year-old medical student from South Korea, was baptised<\/a> into the Orthodox faith last Thursday at a church in Vaslui County, in eastern Romania.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The sacrament was officiated by Archpriest Andrei Mereu\u021b\u0103, dean of B\u00e2rlad, while the young man\u2019s sponsors were Fr Sabin Apopei and his wife Maria, who guided him on the path of discovering the Orthodox faith.<\/p>\n

The newly baptised Christian, Lazarus, comes from a family of doctors and said he was deeply impressed by the depth of the faith and the beauty of Romanian Orthodox traditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe first entered an Orthodox church last year during the Pascha service and was struck by the atmosphere of prayer and the beauty of the chanting. His coming from another culture shows that God\u2019s love has no borders and that Christ calls all people to be united in His Church,\u201d Fr Mereu\u021b\u0103 said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThrough baptism a person is born into a new life, of water and the Spirit, and the font symbolises the womb of the Mother Church from which the Christian is born for eternal life,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

At the end of the service, the community prayed that God would grant the new Christian strong faith, a pure heart and joy in the Church of Christ.<\/p>\n
