The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Ireland and Iceland on Saturday hosted a lecture titled \u201cHoly Women of the Romanian People as Models of Life<\/a>\u201d at the Diocesan Cathedral of Dublin, delivered by Prof. Dr George Enache.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The lecture presented key moments and spiritual landmarks from the lives of Romanian holy women<\/a>\u2014martyrs, monastics, Christian wives and mothers\u2014highlighting their contribution to preserving and transmitting the Orthodox faith throughout Romania\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

The speaker also drew attention to the recent canonisation proclaimed<\/a> by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, noting that these testify to God\u2019s work in the life of the Romanian people.<\/p>\n

The event was part of the 2026 Commemorative Year in the Romanian Patriarchate<\/a>, dedicated to the holy women of the Church calendar\u2014myrrh-bearing women, martyrs, venerable women, and wives and mothers.<\/p>\n

Prof. George Enache teaches at the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology of the Dun\u0103rea de Jos University of Gala\u021bi. He holds a PhD in History from the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Ia\u0219i, with a doctoral thesis entitled \u201cChurch and State in Romania during the People\u2019s Democracy (1948\u20131964)\u201d.<\/p>\n

Review and outlook for the diocese<\/h2>\n

The programme continued with the Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of Ireland and Iceland, which offered an overview of activities undertaken in 2025 across all areas of church life.<\/p>\n

At the same time, participants outlined development priorities for the current year, particularly in pastoral and missionary work, education, social and philanthropic initiatives, and cultural projects.<\/p>\n

The day concluded with the General Assembly of the clergy, during which issues of parish organisation, the challenges of ministry abroad, and the diocese’s future projects were discussed.<\/p>\n
