The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Ireland and Iceland has recently acquired its own diocesan cathedral in Dublin, the diocese announced in a press release.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Christ Church in Leeson Park<\/a> was purchased with the support of the Department for Romanians Abroad and the contributions of hundreds of Romanians who donated to the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new Cathedral will henceforth be the heart of Romanian Orthodoxy in Ireland and Iceland \u2013 a place of prayer, communion and hope, but also a symbol of unity and the living presence of the ancestral faith in these lands,\u201d the diocese underlined.<\/p>\n

The property, a 19th-century Anglican heritage church, is an architectural monument located in central Dublin and will become a landmark for Romanians in Ireland, symbolising both faith and national identity in the diaspora.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, 14 September, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, liturgical services will resume in the new Cathedral at Leeson Park, also marking the feast day of the parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.<\/p>\n

The diocese has invited Romanians from Dublin and the surrounding areas to join in celebrating this historic day for the Diocese of Ireland and Iceland.<\/p>\n

The church had been used by the Romanian parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross since 2005, until February 2025, when the previous owners decided to sell the building.<\/p>\n
