Built in Romania, the church is now awaiting shipment to Japan, with fundraising underway to cover transport costs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the wooden church that will serve the Orthodox Cemetery in Minami Alps, Yamanashi,\u201d announced Parish Priest Daniel Cor\u00eeu on the Facebook page of the Tokyo Parish.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith your help, our donors and supporters, we managed to build and assemble the church in Romania. In August, it was disassembled and packed for shipment to Japan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The transport costs are estimated at around \u20ac12,000, so any contribution is welcome. Donors will be commemorated during Divine Liturgies in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>The cemetery purchased by Romanians in Yamanashi Prefecture is the first Orthodox cemetery in Japan, where Buddhism and Shintoism prescribe cremation.
