The Romanian Orthodox Parish in Auckland, New Zealand, has received a non-refundable grant of 300,000 lei (approx. AUD 100,000) to continue the construction of the parish\u2019s Social and Cultural Hall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This construction project is part of a broader initiative that envisions the future building of a parish church and the establishment of an open-air ethnographic museum, inspired by the Romanian Village Museum model, according to a press release from the \u201cSaint Ignatius the God-Bearer\u201d Parish in Auckland.<\/p>\n

The Government of Romania granted the funding through the Department for Romanians Abroad<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank the Department for Romanians Abroad for the financial support, as well as all donors who contribute to our project of building a social and cultural hall for Romanians in Auckland,\u201d said Parish Priest Mircea Corpodean.<\/p>\n

The overall goal of the project is to strengthen and deepen the social and cultural activities of the Romanian diaspora in Auckland, promoting and affirming Romanian identity and traditions, and supporting the development of the parish\u2019s Romanian-language library.<\/p>\n
