{"id":531077,"date":"2025-06-20T15:28:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T12:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=531077"},"modified":"2025-06-20T15:28:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T12:28:10","slug":"french-ambassador-metropolitan-petru-moldova-european-path","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/french-ambassador-metropolitan-petru-moldova-european-path\/","title":{"rendered":"French Ambassador visits Metropolitan Petru to discuss Orthodox Church\u2019s role in Moldova\u2019s European Path"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ai-optimize-6 ai-optimize-introduction\"><strong>His Eminence Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia <a href=\"https:\/\/mitropoliabasarabiei.md\/intalnire-oficiala-intre-ips-parinte-mitropolit-petru-si-excelenta-sa-doamna-dominique-waag-ambasador-al-republicii-franceze-la-chisinau\/\">received<\/a> a visit on Wednesday from Her Excellency Dominique Waag, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Moldova.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-7\">The meeting marked the first official dialogue between the two institutions, intending to strengthen and develop future cooperation in spiritual, social, and cultural areas.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"ai-optimize-9\">Strengthening Cooperation<\/h2>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-9\">On this occasion, Metropolitan Petru presented the history and mission of the Metropolis of Bessarabia as an integral part of the Romanian Orthodox Church, highlighting its goal of promoting Christian Orthodox values and supporting the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-10\">The Metropolitan also emphasized the <a href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/bessarabia-metropolis-domestic-violence-diaconia-2024-report\/\">philanthropic work<\/a> carried out by the Church through parishes and charitable associations, as well as its efforts to preserve Bessarabia\u2019s spiritual and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-11\">Ambassador Dominique Waag listened with interest and expressed admiration for the pastoral, social, and educational work undertaken by the Metropolis of Bessarabia over the more than 30 years since its reactivation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"fr\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\ude4fM\u00e9tropolite Petru pour notre discussion sur l\u2019histoire de l\u2019Eglise orthodoxe de Bessarabie, son r\u00f4le social aupr\u00e8s des plus d\u00e9munis et son message de paix sur le continent.
