The events will begin on August 5 with the commemoration of Saint John Jacob of Neam\u021b.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-7\">The relics of the two venerable elders were <a href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/sihastria-monastery-exhumation-saints-paisius-cleopas-canonization\/\">exhumed<\/a> in late April. This was part of the steps needed for their local canonization. Their holy remains were reverently cleaned and placed in new coffins. The event was marked by the presence of His Grace Assistant Bishop Nichifor of Boto\u0219ani, who noted: \u201cThe entire cemetery was filled with a fragrant aroma.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-9\">In the context of the <a href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/tag\/centennial-2025\/\">Romanian Patriarchate\u2019s Centennial<\/a> and the Commemorative Year of Spiritual Fathers and Confessors of the 20th Century, <a href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/holy-synod-approves-canonization-of-16-modern-day-saints\/\">sixteen Romanian saints<\/a> have been canonized, including the renowned Elders Paisius (Olaru) and Cleopas (Ilie). Their general canonization was <a href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/synodal-decree-of-the-romanian-orthodox-church-for-canonization-of-20th-century-saints\/\">proclaimed<\/a> on February 4 at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"ai-optimize-10\">Support Appeal:<\/h2>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-11\">Sih\u0103stria Monastery is calling for financial support to complete ongoing restoration works. This appeal coincides with the local canonization of Saints Paisius and Cleopas.
