Thousands of people participated on Sunday in the traditional Pentecost procession in Cluj-Napoca. Local Metropolitan Andrei offered prayers for the environment and the fruits of the earth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The religious event began with the Kneeling Vespers of Pentecost, officiated by Metropolitan Andrei of Cluj, Maramure\u0219, and S\u0103laj, at the outdoor altar on the esplanade of the Metropolitan Cathedral.<\/p>\n

In his address to the gathered crowd in Avram Iancu Square, entitled \u201cWe All Desire the Joy That Comes from God,\u201d His Eminence spoke about the trials of life and the spiritual need for true joy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s true that sometimes we lose that joy. Indeed, we are often troubled, distressed, tested\u2014and people have always felt this,\u201d said Metropolitan Andrei.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe righteous Job, in chapter 14 of his book, says: \u2018Man born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.\u2019 We try to overcome these troubles. But we do not always find the right path,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Pentecost Procession<\/h2>\n

The actual procession began in front of the Cathedral and followed the route: Avram Iancu Square \u2013 21 December 1989 Boulevard \u2013 Union Square (passing behind Saint Michael Church) \u2013 Heroes\u2019 Boulevard \u2013 back to Avram Iancu Square.<\/p>\n

The event concluded with Metropolitan Andrei thanking all who helped organize the procession again this year and the large number of faithful who took part.<\/p>\n

Initiated in 2011 by Metropolitan Andrei, the Pentecost Procession continues an old Transylvanian tradition centered on prayer for the harvest and for the protection of the natural environment. It is held each year on the Feast of the Descent of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n
