{"id":519818,"date":"2025-03-27T10:42:21","date_gmt":"2025-03-27T08:42:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=519818"},"modified":"2025-03-27T10:42:21","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T08:42:21","slug":"greek-national-day-bucharest-commemoration-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/greek-national-day-bucharest-commemoration-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Greek community in Bucharest honours 1821 Revolution Heroes on National Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Greek community in Bucharest commemorated its forebears on Sunday at the Greek Church, in the context of Greece\u2019s National Day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the Divine Liturgy, the heroes of the Greek Revolution of 1821 were commemorated\u2014an event marking the Greek people&#8217;s independence from the Ottoman Empire.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside Her Excellency Lili-Evangelia Grammatika, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfa.gr\/missionsabroad\/en\/romania.html\">Ambassador<\/a> of the Hellenic Republic to Romania, the commemorative event was attended by Georgios Papanikolaou, First Counselor of the Greek Embassy in Romania, Consul Evstathios Fokas, Nikolaos Vlahakis, Public Diplomacy Counselor, and Captain Ioannis Panagiotou, Military Attach\u00e9 of the Embassy.<\/p>\n<p>Also present were MP Drago\u0219 Gabriel Zisopol, President of the <a href=\"https:\/\/uniunea-elena.ro\/\">Hellenic Union of Romania<\/a>, the Greek delegation visiting Romania for the National Day celebrations, Greek businesspeople, and members of the Bucharest Branch of the Hellenic Union of Romania.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Fr.
