On Wednesday, His Grace Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploie\u0219ti, Secretary of the Holy Synod, welcomed Her Excellency Tamar Beruchashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Romania, at the Patriarchal Palace in Bucharest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bishop Varlaam extended a warm welcome to the ambassador, emphasizing the strong and long-standing friendship between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Georgian Orthodox Church.<\/p>\n

In response, Her Excellency expressed her appreciation for the meeting and highlighted the significance of Saint Anthimos the Iberian, a historical and spiritual figure cherished by both the Romanian and Georgian peoples. She described him as a symbolic bridge between the two nations.<\/p>\n

During their discussions, Bishop Varlaam and Ambassador Beruchashvili explored concrete ways to deepen cooperation between the two Orthodox Churches.<\/p>\n

They proposed initiatives to enhance the visibility of Romanian Orthodox Christianity in Georgia and promote Georgian Orthodoxy in Romania.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the meeting, Bishop Varlaam of Ploie\u0219ti wished the ambassador continued success in her diplomatic mission in Romania.<\/p>\n
